ESPN boxing returns to Tampa with Yudel Jhonson

ESPN’s Friday Night Fights returns to Tampa, Florida on June 3rd at the Ala Carte Pavilion with 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist and rising Cuban star Yudel Jhonson showcased in the main event. Jhonson, who defected in Spring of 2009 with fellow boxers Yordanis Despaigne and Guillermo Rigondeaux, is currently undefeated in 10 professional bouts. In his last bout, Jhonson captured the WBC FECARBOX Light Middleweight title with a win over Richard Gutierrez on ESPN in March.
In the co main event, Tyrese Hendrix (20-2-1, 9 KO) squares off against Prenice Brewer (15-1-1, 6 KO) in an 8 round fight that is a must win for each fighter. Hendrix is most known for his loss to Hank Lundy on ESPN in April 2010, while Brewer is coming off of a knockout loss against Patrick Lopez on ESPN in August 2010. Brewer was a standout amateur, and won the 2005 national Golden Gloves. Both fighters have been ranked by regional boxing associations.
The undercard features several of the Bay areas best. Undefeated super middleweight Jose Alonzo (12-0, 7 KO) from Spring Hill, FL takes on Adam Jaco (9-4-1, 4 KO) from Sarasota, FL in an 8 round bout for the Florida State Super Middleweight Title. Both fighters are 34 years old and have been staples in the Bay area boxing scene for the past decade.
Undefeated Flyweight Daniel Lozano(8-0, 5 KO) from Desoto, FL, amateur standout and undefeated pro Adam Hubinger (13-0, 9 KO) fighting out of Tampa, FL, and Bay area featherweight Charlie Serrano (11-2-1) will also see action on the card.
Last, but certainly not least, Inka Laleye (4-1-2), the brother of Contender star Akineymi ‘AK 47’ Laleye, takes on Manny Woods (6-1, 3 KO), the cousin of future Hall of Fame boxer Winky Wright in a six round Light middleweight showdown between two of St. Pete, Florida’s best..
