"He is very upset about it and very disappointed. He is coming off of the best performance of his career and beat the guy that was considered the best in the division and did all he had to do to win, and he feels he's been let down by the network that supported him since he was 6-0 and he's not very happy with the people from Top Rank," stated Gary Hyde, manager of undefeated super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who discussed their frustrations with HBO, Top Rank, and much more. PC: I can't think of a situation since I have been watching or covering the sport of boxing that your fighter Guillermo Rigondeaux is in right now, where he is coming off of one of his most dominant performances, yet HBO and his promoter is pretty much saying there is nothing they can do with him.

GH: It's a hard situation. He is coming off of a dominating performance against one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. It doesn't make sense to him.

PC: As his manager, you have been very vocal and it's obviously very frustrating to you, but how is Guillermo handling it?

GH: He is very upset about it and very disappointed. He is coming off of the best performance of his career and beat the guy that was considered the best in the division and did all he had to do to win, and he feels he's been let down by the network that supported him since he was 6-0 and he's not very happy with the people from Top Rank.

PC: If we lived in a perfect world, when would we see Rigondeaux back in the ring competing?

GH: He would have fought already and he would have fought 3 or 4 times, like Donaire fought last year. Donaire would fight and then they would have him on again 14 weeks later. But he is just training for the moment until they get a proper opponent for him. First they have to find a fighter to accept a fight against him and then it has to be somebody that Top Rank would be happy with. HBO has already said they aren't going to support Rigondeaux, so that's not a problem anymore. We have to move forward now and find a network that is willing to support him and it's gonna have to be some time before November because it's in his contract that they have until then to get something in place. So he will fight before November 1st.

PC: Is it tough keeping him motivated and in the gym training, because he doesn't really know what's next for him?

GH: He is just back from vacation, so he is ready to be back in the gym. The kid lives in the gym. He's been in the gym since he was 7 years of age and he is such a hard trainer. But like you said, he needs to be motivated. I have never seen him so motivated like he was for the Donaire fight. He needs a big fight to get really motivated again and I hope that we can get some good news next week.

PC: You put a list out where he is not only willing to fight the best available, but also travel to their countries or states to fight these guys. He's not opposed to traveling to get these fights, right?

GH: No, he will travel any and everywhere to fight. He went and fought an undefeated Willie Casey in his country in Ireland and knocked him out in one round and then came right back and knocked out Rico Ramos. Rigondeaux doesn't care. When he's in the ring, that's his country, that's his state, and where he belongs. He doesn't care where that ring is; wherever he goes to fight, he knows he has a home, so it doesn't matter to him what country the ring is in.

PC: I wish you guys the best of luck. Definitely keep me in the loop as far as what's going on with him. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that this guy is having a hard time getting air time. Is there anything else you want to say before I let you go?

GH: Keep your eyes open and hopefully I will have some good news next week and we will see Rigondeaux back in action again. You will never see the performance that he put on against Donaire again because he will never fight Donaire again. He's got a different performance for every single opponent. He's got a master performance for every opponent; it might be aggressive or where he has to counter, but he makes the adjustments and he has a different plan for every fighter. And if something is not working, he can switch and he is just an amazing fighter and he's gotta fight.

PC: No puedo pensar en una situación ya que he estado viendo o cubriendo el deporte del boxeo que tu luchador Guillermo Rigondeaux se encuentra en este momento en el que está saliendo de una de sus actuaciones más dominantes, sin embargo, HBO y su promotor es más o menos diciendo que no hay nada que puedan hacer con él.


GH: Es una situación difícil. Él viene de una actuación dominante contra uno de los mejores peleadores libra por libra del mundo. No tiene sentido para él.


PC: Como su director, que ha sido muy clara y es, obviamente, muy frustrante para usted, pero ¿cómo es el manejo de Guillermo es?


GH: Está muy molesto por ello y muy decepcionado. PC: Si viviéramos en un mundo perfecto, cuando íbamos a ver a Rigondeaux volver al ring compitiendo?


GH: Habría luchado ya y habría luchado 3 o 4 veces, al igual que Donaire luchó el año pasado. Donaire pelearía y luego lo tendría de nuevo 14 semanas después. Pero es sólo la formación por el momento hasta que llegan a un oponente adecuado para él. Primero se tiene que encontrar un luchador de aceptar una pelea contra él y entonces tiene que ser alguien que Top Rank sería feliz. HBO ya ha dicho que no van a apoyar a Rigondeaux, de modo que no es un problema. Tenemos que seguir adelante ahora y encuentre una red que está dispuesto a apoyarlo y que va a tener que pasar algún tiempo antes de noviembre, ya que es en su contrato que tienen hasta entonces para conseguir algo en su lugar. Así que luchará antes del 1 de noviembre.


PC: ¿Es difícil mantener su motivación y en el gimnasio de entrenamiento, porque no sabe realmente qué será lo próximo para él?


GH: Es que acaba de regresar de sus vacaciones, por lo que está listo para estar de vuelta en el gimnasio. El niño vive en el gimnasio. Él ha estado en el gimnasio desde que tenía 7 años de edad y es un entrenador tan dura. Pero como usted ha dicho, tiene que ser motivado. Nunca he visto tan motivado como lo fue para la lucha Donaire. Él tiene una gran pelea para conseguir realmente motivado de nuevo y espero que podamos conseguir un poco de buenas noticias la semana que viene.


PC: Usted pone una lista de donde él no sólo está dispuesto a pelear con los mejores disponibles, pero también viajan a sus países o estados para luchar contra estos chicos. Él no se opuso a viajar para conseguir estas peleas, ¿no?


GH: No, que viajará cualquiera y todo el mundo para luchar. Se fue y peleó un invicto Willie Casey en su país en Irlanda y lo noqueó en un round y luego volvió en seguida y dejó sin Rico Ramos. Rigondeaux no le importa. Cuando está en el ring, que es su país, es su estado, y donde él pertenece. No le importa que ese anillo es, donde quiera que va a pelear, él sabe que tiene una casa, por lo que no le importaba lo que el país del anillo es pulg


PC: Me gustaría que ustedes la mejor de las suertes. Definitivamente me mantenga al corriente en cuanto a lo que está pasando con él. Es difícil para envolver alrededor de mi mente el hecho de que este hombre está teniendo dificultades para obtener tiempo aire. ¿Hay algo más que quieras decir antes de que te dejo ir?


GH: Mantenga los ojos abiertos y espero tener buenas noticias la semana que viene y vamos a ver Rigondeaux volver de nuevo en acción. Usted nunca verá el rendimiento que se puso de nuevo en contra Donaire porque nunca luchará Donaire nuevo. Él tiene un rendimiento diferente para cada oponente. Tiene un rendimiento general para todos los rivales, ya que podría ser agresivo o donde tiene que contrarrestar, pero él hace los ajustes y él tiene un plan diferente para cada luchador. Y si algo no está funcionando, puede cambiar y es un luchador increíble y tiene que luchar.

bueno si rigo deja HBO porque no lo pueden sustentar y a top rank porque como network ( en unión con HBO) no le quieren ..... creo que donde único podría ir a a manos de golden boy promotions que tampoco creo que tenga mucho para rigo ...alli esta lara y hace muy poco fue que logro pelear por una faja interina ...y para eso , que le habían puesto toda clase de obstáculos para que no ganara...no se a donde pueda ir a dar el rigo , después de eso ...ya era hora que alguien tomara partido en esto ....es hora de quitar del medio a top rank , golden boy , don king .HBO , showtime y todos .....

Que feo se pone esto,me veo contandole a mi nieto que había un boxeador Cubano que era un autentico portento,pero que no pudimos disfrutarlo mucho por que en esa década mandaba en el boxeo las televisiones y el grueso de los aficionados buscaban el espectáculo mas que el boxeo técnico,así que los boxeadores con talento técnico dejaron paso a los que tenían talento físico,pero te aseguro que fue uno de los mas grandes boxeadores que tu abuelo vio en los cuadriláteros.
