Arum: 50 Cent promoting Floyd will make a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight easier to put together

By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum thinks that putting together a mega fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his fighter Manny Pacquiao will now be that much easier now that Mayweather Jr. has put together a new promotional company with rapper 50 Cent [Curtis Jackson] called TMT Promotions.

Arum told RingTV “I would think that if [50 Cent] promoted Floyd, it would make a match-up between Pacquiao and Mayweather that much easier.”

I disagree with that. It’s not about who promotes Mayweather, it’s about the revenue split and the drug testing. Arum could promote both Mayweather and Pacquiao and the fight still wouldn’t happen as long as the recently beaten Pacquiao continued to ask for a 50-50 deal in terms of the purse split of the revenue. Mayweather quite rightly doesn’t see Pacquiao deserving an even share of the loot, and Pacquiao’s less than impressive pay-per-view totals for his last bout against Tim Bradley, which brought in a little over 900,000 buys pales in comparison to the 1.5 million buys that Mayweather hauled in for his last bout against Miguel Cotto.

50 Cent promoting Mayweather will have no bearing on a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao getting made. As long Pacquiao keeps talking about wanting a 50-50 deal, the fight won’t get made. It’s too bad because Pacquiao is probably going to wish he had accepted the generous offer of $40 million that Mayweather made to him recently for a fight. If Pacquiao takes another loss in his next fight in November then it’s going to be laughable for him to be still asking for a 50-50 deal. And believe me, I can see Pacquiao still doing that. But other than that, Pacquiao is going to have to agree to the blood testing for performance enhancing drugs. That isn’t going to change even with 50 Cent promoting Mayweather. Pacquiao is going to have to take the test.

Por Chris Williams: promotor de Top Rank, Bob Arum piensa que armar una mega pelea entre Floyd Mayweather Jr. y Manny Pacquiao, el boxeador ahora será mucho más fácil ahora que Mayweather Jr. ha preparado una nueva compañía de promoción con el rapero 50 Cent [Curtis Jackson] llama Promociones TMT.

Arum le dijo a RingTV "Yo creo que si [50 Cent] promovido Floyd, que sería un duelo entre Pacquiao y Mayweather mucho más fácil."

No estoy de acuerdo con eso. No se trata de quien promueve Mayweather, se trata de la división de ingresos y la prueba de la droga. Arum podría promover tanto Mayweather y Pacquiao, y la lucha aún no iba a pasar, siempre y cuando el recién derrotado Pacquiao siguió pidiendo un acuerdo 50-50 en cuanto a la división de bolsa de los ingresos. Mayweather con toda la razón no ve Pacquiao merece una parte aún del botín, y Pacquiao menos que impresionante pay-per-view totales de su última pelea contra Tim Bradley, que llevó en poco más de 900.000 compra palidece en comparación con los 1,5 millones de compra que Mayweather acarreado en su última pelea contra Miguel Cotto.

50 Cent promoción Mayweather tendrá nada que ver con una pelea entre Mayweather y Pacquiao conseguir hecho.
