yuriorkis gamboa roman martinez mikey garcia By Dan Ambrose: Newly crowned WBO super featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28 KO’s) is targeting interim WBA lightweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16 KO’s) next following Mikey’s 8th round KO win over WBO super featherweight champion Roman “Rocky” Martinez (27-2-2, 16 KO’s) last Saturday night at the American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Garcia said this to HBO about a potential fight against Gamboa: “I’m willing to go up and meet him at 135 if he doesn’t want to come down. I think it would be a great fight. People would want to see it. Why not? Let’s do it. I think anybody they put in front of me, I’m ready to fight.”

It’s pretty clear that Mikey would have to move up in weight to get a fight against the 31-year-old Gamboa, and even then it’s still debatable whether Gamboa will take the fight. Mikey’s promoter Bob Arum will have to make a big offer to Gamboa to get him to take the fight because he be content to wait until he gets a title shot against WBA lightweight champion Richard Abril instead, because that’s a much more winnable fight for Gamboa than a fight against Mikey. If Gamboa wasn’t willing to fight Brandon Rios in the past, then it’s difficult to see him agreeing to fight Mikey.

A fight between Mikey and Gamboa would be a toss up at this point. Gamboa is fast, powerful and an excellent counter puncher. Mikey has never fought anyone remotely as good as Gamboa and this could turn out badly for him if Gamboa uses his speed to press the fight. We saw last night that Mikey looked vulnerable when Ramon Martinez was coming forward and pressuring him. It wasn’t until Martinez backed off and let Mikey fight at his slow pace that Mikey was able to start doing well.

If Gamboa pressures Mikey with flurries and power shots, we could see Mikey on the canvas just like we did last night. One gets the sense that Mikey doesn’t take shots too well. His offense is his defense, and it looks like Mikey isn’t the type of fighter that can take a lot of punishment without getting hurt or knocked out. Gamboa has the kind of power and skills to expose Mikey, and he’s also smart enough to know that he can’t let Mikey have a lot of time to set up his shots. Mikey doesn’t fight well when things are thrown into chaos because he needs to think for him to fight well. If Gamboa takes the fight to him and rakes him with shots, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mikey on the canvas looking up at the lights before long.

The real question is whether Gamboa will take this fight. Bob Arum of Top Rank has the money to lure Gamboa into the fight, but it’s unclear whether he’ll be willing to open up his wallet to make this fight happen because Mikey isn’t a pay-per-view type of attraction, so the big money won’t be there without HBO being willing to come up with a lot of money to show this fight. Will they do that? I doubt it.

Yuriorkis Gamboa roman martinez garcia mikey Por Dan Ambrosio: El recién coronado campeón de la OMB súper pluma Mikey García ( 33-0 , 28 nocáuts), tiene como objetivo interino de la AMB campeón de peso ligero Yuriorkis Gamboa ( 23-0 , 16 nocáuts), siguiente a octava ronda de KO victoria de Mikey sobre OMB súper pluma campeón Román "Rocky " Martínez ( 27-2-2 , 16 nocáuts ) el pasado sábado en el American Bank Center en Corpus Christi , Texas.

García dijo que esto HBO sobre una potencial pelea contra Gamboa : "Estoy dispuesto a subir y reunirse con él en 135 si no quiere bajar. Creo que sería una gran pelea. La gente quiere ver. ¿Por qué no ? Vamos a hacerlo . Yo creo que nadie se puso delante de mí , estoy listo para pelear " .

Es bastante claro que Mikey tendría que subir de peso para conseguir una pelea contra el jugador de 31 años de edad, Gamboa , y aún así sigue siendo discutible si Gamboa tomará la pelea. El promotor de Mikey Bob Arum tendrá que hacer una gran oferta de Gamboa para hacerle tomar la pelea porque él esté contento que esperar hasta que llegue un oportunidad por el título contra el campeón de peso ligero campeón Richard Abril vez , porque eso es una pelea mucho más ganable de Gamboa que una lucha contra Mikey . Si Gamboa no estaba dispuesto a luchar contra Brandon Ríos en el pasado, entonces es difícil verlo acuerdo para luchar Mikey .

Una pelea entre Mikey y Gamboa sería una sacudida para arriba en este punto. Gamboa es rápido , potente y una excelente contra golpeador . Mikey nunca ha peleado contra alguien remotamente tan bueno como Gamboa y esto podría terminar mal para él si Gamboa usa su velocidad para presionar a la lucha. Vimos anoche que Mikey parecía vulnerable cuando Ramón Martínez venía adelante y presionarlo . No fue hasta que Martínez dio marcha atrás y dejar que Mikey luchar a su ritmo lento que Mikey fue capaz de empezar a hacer bien .

Si las presiones Gamboa Mikey con ráfagas y disparos de energía , podríamos ver Mikey en el lienzo tal como lo hicimos anoche. Uno tiene la sensación de que Mikey no toma fotos muy bien. Su delito es su defensa, y parece que Mikey no es el tipo de boxeador que puede tomar un montón de castigo sin hacerse daño o noqueado. Gamboa tiene el tipo de poder y habilidades para exponer Mikey , y es también lo suficientemente listo como para saber que no puede dejar que Mikey tiene un montón de tiempo para crear sus tiros . Mikey no pelea bien cuando las cosas son arrojados en el caos debido a que tiene que pensar por él para luchar así . Si Gamboa toma la lucha con él y rastrillos con los tiros , no me sorprendería ver a Mikey en la lona mirando las luces antes de tiempo.

Bob Arum de Top Rank tiene el dinero para atraer a Gamboa en la pelea , pero no está claro si estará dispuesto a abrir la billetera para hacer esta pelea porque Mikey no es un tipo de pago por visión de la atracción , por lo el gran dinero no va a estar ahí sin HBO estar dispuesto a llegar a una gran cantidad de dinero para mostrar esta lucha. ¿Van a hacer eso ? Lo dudo.

A pesar que no es menos cierto que Gamboa esta perdido del mundo del boxeo creo que con una buena preparación,con un entrenador profesional no menosprecio el trabajo del papa,pero para una pelea de esta magnitud debe buscar otra persona que le ayude,Garcia esta muy bien preparado es un exelente contragolpeador y tiene esa combinación 1y 2 de recto letal pero e notado que cuando le meten presión le entran golpes y eso puede ser favorable para el cubano y combinado con su velocidad mucho mejor,boxeo tiene de sobra Gamboa si lo estudia bien y con una buena preparación se puede lograr la victoria.
